King 6000 grit Japanese Waterstone Reviews

Premium quality synthetic 6000 grit (fine) Japanese Waterstone.6000 grit stones are usually the final stage of polishing for routine sharpening. There is benefit to be had by going finer but the additional benefit diminishes the further you go. 6000 grit and finer stones need to be used with a Nagura stone to build up a sharpening paste on the surface and prevent the surface from glazing, they don't need pre-soaking just a light spray of water as required.185mm x 62mm x 19mm

The item arrived the next day as promised. Well packed and arrived safely. I have used it twice and very pleased with this stone. As the stone is lightly used. I allow to dry out after use and return to box to keep safe.

I have been using these for some time now as an aspirant wood worker. A sufficiently high grit to obtain a mirror finish - the grit combines with the steel to give a polishing medium on the surface of the stone - and for the price I have never felt the need to pay considerably more for the higher grit, the 8000 or 10000. A good company with intimate knowledge of the products they sell.

I wasn’t sure if I needed this (my 1000 grit diamond stone gets things fairly sharp) but it turns out I did. This gets my plane blades and chisels ridiculously sharp and it makes using the tools so much easier.

Works very well on my Japanese knives using gentle strokes and just a splash of water.
