A solid, well engineered bowl adze from Czech manufacturer Narex, the curved CrMn blade is hardened to RC 59-61, with a 290mm straight grained ash handle.The short handle gives precise single-handed control for carving bowls, troughs, hand adzes are an ideal step up from a gouge to speed up the process of roughing out large scale carvings or preparing turning blanks.

“This adze has a lovely feel in the hand, great balance and I love the curve of the blade and the hang of the handle. When it's sharp it works beautifully for hollowing bowls and making sculpture. But getting it sharp initially was a bit of a chore: The edge came apparently polished on the bevel side, but the inside was very roughly finished and needed copious work with various stones to get it to an acceptable sharpness. I guess I'm spoiled these days, and at this price perhaps I was expecting too much, but it really is simple matter to get it working, but beware if you're expecting wonderful things right out of the box.”
