Not our regular stock item, but a very nice set of chisels at a bargain price.
It looks like the chisels have been tinkered with but not used, one has the printing damaged but they all still have the lacquer on.Some say a 3 minute soak in a weak solution of caustic soda (drain cleaner) and the lacquer will just float off and take the printing with it, but I couldn't possibly comment.
The set of 10 includes: 50mm, 40mm, 32mm, 26mm, 20mm, 16mm, 12mm, 10mm, 8mm, 6mm chisels
The 8116 series of Narex chisels are affordable, Cabinetmaker's chisels with fine edges and close tolerance backs.Narex forge the chisel blades from Chrome Manganese (CrMn) spring steel and isothermally harden it to produce a very even and consistent bainitic structure at RC59 +/-1. In use, Chrome Manganese steel delivers similar performance to carbon steel but is more efficient to produce. The 8116 cabinetmaker's Narex chisels have shouldered teardrop hornbeam handles. They will withstand taps from a mallet without the surface becoming marred and uncomfortable to use when paring. The handles are lightly stained to protect the timber whilst retaining its natural feel.
