“great crash course that was actually very comprehensive and involve enough repetition that the content really sunk in. I have been driving scissor and boom lifts for many years and I didn't know about many of the issues and facts related to these devices. One thing that I noticed when I started operating a scissor lift just after taking the course is that there is no mention of the little gate or chain at the end of the platform (part of the cage) that is designed to prevent someone from simply walking off the end of the lift when it is elevated. That gate or chain is often NOT properly deployed by users because it takes time to engage after entering the lift so they leave it unfastened. The chain is especially easy to forget since you don't really notice it and it just hangs there out of sight leaving a clear path to accidentally walk right off the end of the lift.”
