Overall this was informative. I have been certified before, but in a practical, hands-on training program. This is something required in order to operate a chainsaw at my workplace, however did not address crucial operating "best practices". These would include Effectively clearing your work area often and not cutting smaller brush at an angle to avoid potential "spearing" should a trip or fall happen. Working with the shape, angle and direction of notches in order to fell a tree in the direction required Leaving yourself at least two "outs of escape" should something go wrong More attention to utilizing ropes in order to fell a tree in the direction required (potential mechanical advantage) Paying attention to wind and other variables while operating a chainsaw. There are probably more that should be covered more thoroughly as well. Thank you Ron

I was a little surprised to see you don't like drop starting a chainsaw, I've been starting saws that way for 20 years
