“I spent a lot of time trying to decide which vape to buy. I've bought so many different types of vapes. Most of the time to be disappointed. I've got a couple that I like but not all flavors work well in them. So I decided to get the Caliburn. I'm SO glad I did! So far all the flavors I've tried are good. Even my ADV, that I've only liked in one vape, tastes better in the caliburn.”
“Great pod unit! Outstanding flavor. I have this and the KoKo both and both are AWESOME. I also have the Suorin Air Plus, and the Lambo by One, I only use the Caliburn and the Koko. And I use them daily. The Caliburn battery lasts 2-3 days with regular-heavy usage. The pods for both the KoKo and Caliburn are compatible. I got the Caliburn first I've had it for about 3 months. I used to smoke a little over a pack a day, now, thanks to my Caliburn and KoKo, I am down to a cigarette about every 2-3 days! The Caliburn is what sent me in the right direction to quitting smoking. Also it was the Caliburn that made me a believer in the Uwell brand. All in all, you cannot go wrong with the Caliburn, or the Uwell pod systems in general for that matter, in my opinion.”
“The second pod mod I've tried, and the Caliburn is awesome if you're a rookie stepping up from Juul (which in hindsight was garbage compared to the Caliburn, but served it's purpose of helping me quit smoking a year ago). I'm not a pro-vaper, and haven't tried many systems, so my criteria here focus more on convenience, performance and ease of use.
Five star qualities: convenience, ease of refilling with no mess, no issues with pod burning if you prime them, and has a great draw for either MTL (mouth to lung like a cigarette) or DTL (direct to lung). Works well with nic salts or 70/30 VG/PG vape juice. Pod coils do last 2+ weeks, depending on the salt/juice that you're using.
I took off one star off for a few reasons, though it's mostly about #1:
1. As the charge level of the Caliburn drops, so does the quality of the hit, and it can start spitting with some e-liquids. I have two devices, and that seems to be consistent for both. At full charge, it's fantastic. As you get down around 50% power it's not quite as good and starts to spit, and spitting seems to be more prevalent with 70/30 VG/PG juice than it is with 50/50 nic salts. Power output is not consistent as the charge drops, which isn't really advertised in the context of long battery life, so you won't get the same performance on the second half of its "long battery life". UWell could do a much better job explaining this to people who may not understand how these devices work.
2. It seems to be finicky about the salts/juice that perform optimally in their pod. The thinner it is, the better it will perform, and the longer the coil will last. Nic salts do seem to perfrm better, but 70/30 VG/PG isn't bad either. Probably standard across most 1+ ohm pod mod systems though, and while I haven't tried the 1.2 ohm pod yet, I ordered some to see how they perform. When I bought my first Caliburn from a local shop, the "vape expert" steered me to 70/30 VG/PG. Again, UWell could do a much better job explaining all of this to people who may not understand how these devices work.
3. Priming. Do NOT follow the 3-5 minute recommendation, which is way too short. Even if the coil doesn't burn on you, you're not going to get the best flavor potential out of it. Fill a new pod, cap it, and let it sit a few minutes. Cover the bottom of the pod with your finger and take a couple of short draws to pull juice into the coil/wick, then let it sit for 15-30 mins. Honestly, I don't hit a new pod for at least an hour after having a couple of burnt pods following the Caliburn instructions. I've also seen a recommendation of putting a couple of drops of juice in the center chimney for better flavor, but I haven't needed to do that.
4. I have had some leaky pods, but I haven't quite figured out why they leaked yet. You can clear leaky juice (or old dirty juice in the coil) by blowing through the pod, forcing it out through the contacts on the bottom. Clean up with q-tips is easy. I've only had one pod of many that both leaked and couldn't be resurrected through clearing and cleaning. Also keep the inside of the device and pod contacts clean with a q-tip, and if needed, with a little isopropyl alcohol on the end of a q-tip.”
“I've tried several other pod systems, but the Caliburn beats them all hands down. Durable, great battery life, easy to fill long-lasting pods, nice draw. I've been enjoying mine for 6 months now and my only negative is the occasional defective pod. The Caliburn is so easy to use and fill--it's beyond me why anyone would spend so much on pre-filled pods. This is keeping me cigarette-free after 40 years of smoking, so thank you Uwell and Electronic Tobacconist!”
“The reviews are accurate.
It’s a good pod that fills easy, hits good and I was able to vape 100% Vg with no dry hits.
The mouthpiece comes off easier if you slightly pinch sideways or where visual lines are to see level of juice.
Squeeze on sides firmly and it pulls off so much easier but no need to squeeze hard enough to break.”
