“Ordered 2 Caliburns for myself and hubby. Both of us really like them! We liked them so much that my hubby ordered 2 more for spares. We both like them better than the smok nord and highly recommend the caliburns over the nord! These are great for beginners or for anyone that want an easy portable pod! Can easily put in pocket and last most of the day...with maybe one charge if you vape alot. They say its for salt nics but have used a regular juice (6 mg) and flavor was great!”
“This device is amazing. I generally burn through pod devices. I’ve used several Suorin devices, Juul, Minifit, and others and just got plain tired of all of them. This device is the one the top them all. The flavor on this unit is so good, I can’t put it into words. It provides a nice strong, smooth hit. The coils used in the pods beat anything i’ve seen. They resemble a replacement coil for a tank rather than the usual coil of wire with a strip of cotton threaded through it. It’s very comfortable to use, very juice efficient, and battery life is great as well. The fact that it comes with TWO pods is outstanding. I can’t speak on coil life as of yet because i’ve only had it for two days, but from what I’ve heard coil life is excellent. This is a VERY good quality built device. You will not be disappointed. I think I’ve finally found the one I will never get tired of. Worth every penny. 11/10”
“I started using the Juul several months ago in order to give up cigarettes. I was one of those people who refilled the pods a few times in order to save money. My dog chewed on my Juul stick, so it seemed like a good time to look at other options. A Google search led me to Caliburn, and the price was nice so I gave it a go. Wow, what a difference! The flavor I get from using some of my existing 50/50 nic salts with this is amazing! A friend had given me a big bottle of Glas Oft, and the 65/35 blend is really good in this device as well. The pods are much larger, so I don't have to refill as often, and the charge easily lasts me all day. I was never satisfied with the hit of the Juul, but the Caliburn is closer to the feel a former smoker is used to. This is a good bit larger than a Juul, so not as discreet it that matters to you, which it doesn't to me. I honestly can't think of any negatives to report. 10/10.”
“Ive been vaping for 5 years, in that time Ive had all different mods and pod devices. This is hands down the best vape ive ever used. Good battery life, great flavor, lightweight, pods last a long time and the best part is not one drop of liquid has leaked. I like it so much i bought a second one.”
“Came to the Uwell Caliburn from a Juul about a month ago. I did quite a bit of research on the best Juul alternatives and decided to give this one a shot. So far, I’m quite happy with it.
I was spending way too much money on Juul pods (I used Juul to get off of cigarettes, which was a 2 pack a day habit). Additionally, the government crack-downs on flavors and the popularity of Juul made getting the ones I actually liked extremely painful. Local shops were charging extorsion-level amounts for mango and crème brulee (as high as $10 a pod, compared to $12-15 for a 4 pack online) and I suspect that Juul stopped supplying a lot of the online resellers with those flavors at some point, because they were constantly on back order (looking at you Electric Tobacconist).
So, I decided to try the Caliburn. And at only $27 for the device (sale), the stakes weren’t very high. I’m super glad that I did. I’m saving a boat load of money on Juul pods and I’m having a great time discovering the flavors I like.
Size: While this is larger and heavier than the Juul (slightly thinner than two of them stacked, but a little longer) it’s in the same ballpark, with regard to how easy it is to slip in your pocket and carry on you. The plus side on slightly larger size is that, so far, I have lost my Caliburn zero times… compared to the hundreds of times I had lost a Juul either for a few minutes or for months. If you grip it tightly with your lips, you CAN hold it there momentarily, like while driving or using your hands… but it takes quite a lot of effort and you aren’t going to end up doing that much.
Use: The Caliburn draws smoothly and a little more freely than the Juul. The vapor produced by a similar hit is much more substantial from the Caliburn, but can still be controlled if you’re mindful of it. I will say that when I first started using it, a big hit would make me feel slightly out of breath… but I think that’s a product of the amount of vapor I was inhaling, compared to the Juul. I adjusted my method and it’s fine. Overall, the Caliburn isn’t as stealthy as the Juul, but it’s not obnoxious either, unless you’re trying to be. I do like that you can draw on it without hitting the button, but I wish there was a way to just turn the button off completely or only use it to turn the device on and off. I never use the button, but worry about it firing in my pocket (which has happened at least once, because the device was off when I pulled it out to use it).
Pods and leakage: the main reason I came over to the Caliburn from Juul was that my patience was running thin with regard to dealing with Juul pods. They would leak and burn out, especially the 3rd party pods, and it took some effort to keep them performing like new. Removing the pod and flicking the side to chase out air bubbles, squeezing slightly and constantly checking to see if they were running low became a regular part of the gig. The Uwell Caliburn pods mostly solve all three of those problems. They are much larger inside and I think this gives the juice more room to run around without getting air bubbles caught up in it, so they’re much more consistent. There is a level on the side so you can see how much juice is left without removing the pod, but it’s kind of hard to see, depending on the lighting. I haven’t had much, if any, leaking problem with the pods that came with the device itself, but at least two of the pods I got in a pack of extras from Uwell leaked when I sat them on my desk. One was just a little, but the other one leaked out almost all of the juice I had put in it in a puddle around the pod. That was worrisome, but I’m hoping it’s a rare occurrence, considering that 4 pods are about half the price of the whole device. And they definitely have a life on them. After using a pod for a week or so, it will start turning dark brown. The darker they are, the worse they taste. Just keep that in mind and keep extras on hand and you’ll be happy.
Overall: 4.5 stars. I’m very happy with the Uwell Caliburn and super stoked to throw up a big middle finger at Juul and the sharks peddling their pods. Juul did its job to get me off of cigarettes and I think it might have been just a tiny bit harder to go straight to the Caliburn from analog cigs simple because it’s one step further removed from the sensation of smoking an actual cigarette. Regardless, I’m glad that I’m here now.
Pros:
-Long battery life
-Large pods
-Great flavor from vapor
-Virtually unlimited variety of flavors
-Slim Profile
Cons:
-Pods sometimes leaky
-Worry about button firing in my pocket
-Quite a lot of vapor (might not be a con if you’re into that)”
