I recently moved into a shop + garage with about 50 florescent fixtures, some as 4 x 4' tubes in 2x2 tandem and some with 2 x 8' tubes. I purchased 20 of these to attempt to retrofit the 8' tube enclosures to use the same 4' LED tubes I bought for the shop since they are tombstone-ready on the ends but just need a way to set the tombstones in the middle. The garage is tall so the 8' enclosures are 10+ feet off the ground, not super easy to work on. This bracket is decently universal and reasonably well thought out. It's also a darn good value which is the most critical factor. It comes flat and you bend by hand which isn't hard to do. With that said, for my specific enclosures, it doesn't work the easiest way to replace the existing brackets. Instead, it'll have to wrap around the outside and screw through to attach. I do have metal self drilling hex head screws which will make that part doable but it'll take some additional time to do the couple dozen enclosures. They do have a slot so provided I get them in roughly the right spot, I should be able to adjust tension on the bulb once tombstones are installed. I'm probably going to pull one off the ceiling and use it to prove out my approach on the bench before attempting the rest. Unfortunately, since this is more involved than I budgeted tinme for, I haven't started the process yet. I'm probably going to just replace all the 8' enclosures with new ones to get up and running quickly and then attempt to retrofit the old ones with these brackets as time permits on the bench. New enclosures are $28 and pre-wired so probably the better way to go and the metal in the old ones should be easy enough to recycle.
