“We purchased three (two + one spare) PAR38FA-19-9CCT-40D-DIM LED bulbs on October 31st to replace GE Halogen bulbs that had served us well since September 2015. The halogen bulbs are no longer available and we needed to find the best LED bulbs for our existing RAB STL360HBW security light fixture. Our security light is mounted at a relatively high location 15 feet or more above our driveway, requiring an extension ladder to service. I would normally have replaced the bulbs myself, but doctor's orders said to avoid extension ladders for the time being. Since I had to call an electrician to do the simple job, I needed to be sure that the LED bulbs that we purchased would work with our older STL360HBW fixture the first time. RAB eventually advised that our unit had now been tested with these new LED bulbs and there would not be a need for trial and error. We used the preset 3000K setting and the color is adequately bright, very closely matches the halogen 2900K appearance, and is also welcoming. We tested the LED bulbs to be sure that they would turn off properly. Seems that our fixture uses a mechanical relay and not a SSR alone to switch the lights on and off.We will update our review in six or seven months after cold Upstate NY winter weather. We get down to -10F or -20F in January/February.”
