I had duel careers one that of an artist and the other that in being an Electrical/Mechanical design engineer. The key element in the success in the making of 3.5 “ buttons is the quality of of the parts. As an example the most critical part for this button maker is the “face plate” on which the image and MYLAR is placed. The forming of the dome shape with the edge, known in the tool and die business as the return has to be tightly controlled. The most costly, critical machines used in the making of button components is the step and repeat clicker dies especially the trim dies. I have yet to find one bad stamping among the bulk parts bought.
