Although it has its quirks, this is by far the easiest way to design buttons. The support is also phenomenal, within minutes I got a response and a solution

I needed the Design Center for a time sensitive project. Thank goodness ABM allows you to "rent" it when you need to (if you're not quite sure about purchasing it as yet).

One week was a short time, but its plenty of time to create dozens of designs and get them built into buttons. Well worth it for just a week.

I have a very basic understanding of Gimp 2, the photomanipulation software. I made two sets of 1" buttons using it, and wasn't terribly happy with the results. I immediately wished I had a program that would help me center my elements and would tell me where the edges of my button would be. Enter BaBDC. At first I was very happy to finally have a template so I could accurately size my elements. And a preview option?! Alright! I set a black background, and the preview showed that the black would wrap around the edges of the button. So imagine my disappointment when the printed version was so small that there was white around the edges! Back to the drawing board to make a fourth design. Moreover, I had to fight the software to align two elements to the center of the circle instead of element one aligned with the left edge of element two. Other parts of the UI were similarly difficult to manage. I think it was related to text, but I don't recall exactly. Ultimately, the software was slightly more refined than using GIMP 2, but only slightly, and GIMP is free :/ moreover, I expected that a paid, specialized software would help me make exactly what I wanted. In the end, the final results had the same number of flaws as the GIMP versions. I even had kids say, unprompted, that they preferred the versions where I had been unable to accurately determine how large my elements should be. That shouldn't happen :/ I still put three stars because it *is* useful software, and I bet it's really handy for people with 0 photomanipulation experience. But for me, it only gets three stars because it wasn't slick enough to beat making buttons on a free software alternative with my very amateur Photoshop skills.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback, If your design printed smaller than the template you used in Build-a-Button, you would need to change your printer settings to print at "actual size" rather than "fit to page" or any other scaling option as that will cause it to print incorrectly. We would also recommend that you take a moment to review the easy to follow video training course we provide to help you learn how to use all of the great features of the program, including the auto centering feature. Build-a-Button is a very powerful button design program with many great features once you learn how to use them all. If you ever need support, please give us a call. We are always happy to help!
