Phosphates enter your pool or spa from many areas, grass,leafs, washed in by rain etc. and is what Algae feeds on. So high phosphate levels can supply food to algea spores in a pool or Spa. You cannot really avoid Phosphates in a pool or Spa, what you can do is control and monitor the level of phosphates in your pool. Using a Phosphate test kit and Lochlor starver or Phosphate remover. The kit comprises of liquid reagents to ACCURATELY TEST FOR PHOSPHATE LEVELS in swimming pools. The kit is a MUST for every pool professional. Kit contains: 1 x 25mls Reagent A 2 x 25mls Reagent B 1 x 12 mls vial Instructions on how to test phosphates accurately Instructions: Fill 12mls tube with approximately 10mls pool or spa water Add 5 drops Reagent A Add 5 drops Reagent B Shake well Compare colour against chart provided Important Notes Ensure all living algae and algae spores are killed before you test for phosphates.
