“This is a FANTASTIC option vs the old heat lamp! It seems so much more ‘realistic’ for the chicks, they clamber under and are happy as anything. The heat under it feels different to the old heat lamps too, it doesn’t seem as much like it’s baking them vs warming them. I currently have one of these and a heat lamp in another brooder and I’ve noticed the heat lamp chicks tend to treat it more like the sun, I often see them ‘sunning’ themselves under it. I love that it’s adjustable at every ‘leg’ too, I like to have one end higher than the other to allow for difference in temperature for the chicks. I definitely recommend getting the plastic covers too though, it doesn’t take the chicks long to work out how to get on top and they are good at making a mess! The covers are super easy to clean, I get quite a bit of use out of them too before needing a new one.”
