BACtrack S80 Reviews

4.7 Rating 648 Reviews
I purchased 3 for Christmas gifts, we were out for our Christmas party, Which i gave the BACtrack ahead of Christmas figuring it was the holiday season that parties are usually ahead of Christmas. I had (2) mixed drinks and felt fine to drive, my Nephew had his breathalyzer in his pocket with a new mouth piece LOL , I did the breathalyzer test and was over BY DOUBLE - OMG - so now I'm Purchasing one for my Husband & myself we don't go out often but it only takes 1 time. NEED TO READ DIRECTIONS - THANK YOU

I bought my unit during a promo with CDOT over a year and a half ago. It's been accurate and I've never had any problems with it. I just had to change the battery for the first time a couple months ago and I've never needed to have it recalibrated. I highly recommend this for anyone that ever goes out and has a drink, even if it's only a couple! You'd be surprised how differently your body may process alcohol. It was definitely an eye opener for me to see the different readings at different times. $100 now beats 10s of thousands and a lifetime of regret later.

I read some of the 1 star reviews... first of all, if you JUST take a sip of a drink and measure accuracy, it will be extremely different than waiting 5 minutes. If you read the directions and follow the instructions, this device is extremely accurate. I've purchased 3, and about to purchase 2 more for Christmas gifts. I would not, however, bother calibrating them. It never worked correctly after that. Instead, don't pass it around at a party, because the more uses - especially if it's used wrong - right after drinking - will kill it quick.

Never really seemed accurate; then stopped registering a value. Sent it back to be calibrated and was told it couldn't be re calibrated. I was offered a $40 discount toward the purchase of a new one. Why throw good money after bad?

Seemed great at first, but the sensors go bad after a couple of years. They mention that they recommend getting it calibrated every 6-12 months or it could be less reliable (I sent mine back after 18 months), but what they don't mention is that the sensor can just go bad if you don't do that. It can also just go bad depending on how it's stored, or how often it's used, etc. They don't even give you a real idea of what can cause it to go bad, just a couple general examples. When that happens, you're SOL. They make it seem like it's your fault too, the customer didn't properly maintain the product (which were only suggestions not warnings), therefor it's their fault. Plus there is no option to fix it, replace the sensor, refurbish etc. They just give you a discount to buy a brand new one. I'm sure they then flip your old one and resell it as "refurbished" for more profit. They seem like a good reputable brand from the outside, but once you actually see their true colors you can tell they're a pretty lousy company who doesn't really care about their customers. In fact, I even had another device I had purchased for a friend, which I'm returning since I don't want my friend to have to go through this bs. I'd recommend going with a better brand that isn't out to rip you off. Read through the bad reviews and you'll see many people with the same complaint yet the company has done nothing to make it better.

This unit is great. I trust it to be accurate. Law enforcement and hospitals use this unit. I sent my unity in for a calibration and had the unit back to me in 8 days from day it was sent. Pretty fast service. I would recommend this unit, I have tried other cheaper unit but I would spend a little more for accuracy.
