“I wanted to write a review of the Bactrack Trace, partly to address some of the criticisms expressed in these reviews. First, the unit is smaller than I expected from the photos, which I like. It fits well in your hand and has a solid, quality feel to it. I like the touch screen - it's sharp, clear and has a modern look to it.
I've read some complaints here about the mouthpiece not inserting deeply into the unit. Honestly, I don't know how far these folks think the mouthpiece show go - maybe these folks were drinking when they wrote their review. Regardless, the mouthpiece fits snugly into the unit and inserts easily. I'm just not sure how these other users expect the mouthpiece to function. It goes into the unit as far as it needs to go and stays firmly attached, which is exactly how it should work.
Next, some have complained about the sound the Trace makes while you are blowing. Why? The sound it makes is not intrusive and in fact is so low I would be afraid I might not be able to hear it if I were using the Trace in a loud environment (bar or party). The sound is there to let you know how long to blow and when to stop. It is a useful feature and I'm glad my unit has it.
Lastly, in the tests I've conducted the Trace operates as it should and provides fast, accurate results. I did a lot of research before purchasing this unit and read a lot of reviews of competing products and then decided this one was the best for me. And it is.”
