“Every so often the the rectangular indicator goes around and around forever, never producing a result. Having no reset button, the only cure is to remove a battery. It would also be nice if there were a last test memory feature.”
“The S80 pro is a sleek, easy to use device. Seems to be very accurate when brand new. However, after I sent it in for the first calibration, the accuracy seemed to degrade after about 50 uses (showed low readings). I sent the item back to be calibrated and BACTRACK was unable to calibrate and sent me a new device. I experienced the same issues after a few calibrations with the new device and BACTRACK sent me another device, this time refurbished. I am still on my 3rd S80 and currently have no major complaints - as long as BACKTRACK keeps sending me accurate devices.”
“I have always used the DMV charts for weight/number of drinks per hour to determine whether I was under the legal limit to drive. However, recently I read an article which mentioned how this method can be inaccurate for certain people like myself. Initially I had problems, getting Flo errors, but finally realized I needed to blow slightly longer, rather than harder. Since I use the unit infrequently, I now carry a copy of the instructions to remind myself how to properly use the unit should I have problems. It's very comforting to know I'm usually well under the legal limit. My designated driver is also happy she doesn't have to bail me out when I fear I'm too close to take a chance.”
“Purchased this product after a discussion with friends and family about states considering lowering the BAC limit for driving from 0.08 to 0.04. My adult children all assured me that they had a good gauge for their "limits" when out drinking, so I decided to put it to the test. The unit is compact, comes with everything you need, including clear instructions and warranty information. The case is actually functional and hold all of the stuff you need for testing plus the manual and extra mouthpieces. The instructions state that you have to wait 15 minutes after eating AND/OR drinking before testing. This is actually the hardest part. Perhaps a timer function built into the unit would be a future update. It turns out that everyone, including myself, vastly underestimated the affect of individual drinks on our BAC. If you live in a locality that moves the limit down to 0.04 you might be curious to see how quickly you can reach that without feeling impaired.”
“I think the only thing that I don't like about this or any device like this is that you have to wait 15-20 minutes after eating or drinking and usually you want to know sooner.”
“The S80 consistently returns reproducible readings, which appear to be accurate based on the perceived level of impairment. This is a very popular device among friends who are interested in their condition.”
