“This is probably going to be one of the most honest reviews posted, but the truth is I am a recovering alcoholic and feel the need to give this product the accolades it deserves. Being a 'functional' alcoholic I discovered that it is an art and science to know when to stop consuming. I'm going out here to tell a true story. I strolled into work one average morning and was approached by the usual security. They were doing random breath testing and I was the 'lucky' one. I blew a .045 at 6AM. He asked me if I had recently used mouth wash, to which of course I answered yes. Considering I was management he just let me through. It was a shock to me. I had to figure out when to stop the evening before lest I lose my job or worse ...kill someone driving. I bought the BacTrack S80. A bit expensive, but worth more than a DUI. I used it almost daily to monitor my BAC level and found it very consistent. In the mornings I would blow to make sure I was good to go to work. It has a counter to let you know how many uses. I reached about five hundred and something before I finally had checked myself into rehab. After many weeks in rehab and then several more weeks afterwardI had a short relapse. I reached for my BacTrack and found it not working right. I assumed that after sitting on the shelf for many months it lost calibration. I sent the device in for recalibration. The $20 fee I considered nominal. The process was easy. What pleasantly surprised me is that I sent my old device as directed and in return I received...what looked like a new device in brand new packaging! I highly recommend the product. Please buy it because it might very well save a life.”
“Put on probation, & interlock... I've ended up back in jail ! Stupid things like, "party the night before"... Know your limits & when it's safe !!! The BACtrac, S50 has saved my butt more than I could tell you !!! The small investment on this devise is worth it... In fact, it only cost me $20.00 & I think, 1.89 to ship. They said "mine was a little too old, or too used up" & they would send a refurbished one ; ). They sent me a New 1. Can't top that !!!”
“I have been using my BACtrac breathalyzer for mostly keeping myself out of jail but also for use of customers who leave the club after drinking. I'm sure this accurate device has saved me thousands of dollars in legal expenses! I recently sent my BACtrac in to get it re-calibrated for about $15 and customer service sent me a brand new one in the box with all the accessories which was wonderful especially since I had used all of the disposable mouth straws that came with the first one. This is the best customer service I have ever experienced!”
“My Backtrack Element was about a year old and needed calibration. I guess they couldn't fix it so they sent me a new unit in less than 10 days to Canada.”
“Had my breathalyzer for a little over a year and it seemed to start reading too low, so I didn't trust it anymore. I wasn't aware that it had to go back for calibration periodically. So I purchased the calibration and mailed the unit back to BACtrack. A week later I got a brand new unit back. There was a small note on the invoice that they could not calibrate my old unit so they sent me the new one.”
