Really well thought out. Perfect length chapters. Seems to have anticipated all the questions I had. Lee Child genuinely appears to want to help pass on his knowledge and I am far more confident as a result

The in depth discussion reveals more about the process of writing than even Lee Child (I know that's a pen name) knows he is sharing.

Lee's pace of delivery is clear and engaging, and he's giving some great advice. I'm learning new stuff and also finding that in many areas I'm already doing the right thing.

The writer has a passion for his subject and it feels like he is letting you in and not holding anything back. I also like the easy going style of delivery.

Angela Hillmann, drowned in the lake, at the bottom of the garden. She built the lake because she loved Paris. She dreamed of a life there. Away from the one that had been created for her. But now her dreams where buried in a grave, somewhere in upstate New York, beside her father Benjamin Crawford. His body was ninety fife years old, eighty six of them living, and nine feeding worms, she died at twenty six. The lake at the bottom of the garden, was built after a visit to her sister in France. Her younger sister. The one that got to do whatever she wanted. It was big enough to paddle a small boat on. Big enough to provide shelter for some wildlife, but no bigger than that, and only four or five feet deep, at its deepest part. The whole turn of events was shrouded in mystery, and silence. The kind of silence, that powerfull men create. Nobody asked questions, she was without family in Ireland, and over time, had simply become, forgotten. The stable manager, Peter Jacob, just happened to be working early that morning. He informed the authorities, that the horses were unsettled, and the hounds were whining, and howling near the lake. It was early, the sun had risen, as only an Irish summer sun does. When he pulled her marble white body from the water She was completely naked and draped in pond lilies, that looked like a macabre dress. Like a porcelain doll she lay in the soft grass. There were whispers of suicide among the staff, and talk of strange rituals after the summer banquet, but those who knew her, did not believe a word. As far as they were concerned, she was the only light in her husband, Henry Hillmans life. The local kids used to chase her through the village, in hope she would speak, and reveal her American accent, or take a photograph of them, on her Kodac Browne. They called her the Yankee lady. When her husband was away, she could be seen in Phelans public house, at the Cross roads. She coould drive the car by herself, and drink Gin with the local men and women. No one bothered her, they knew who she was, and she knew she was probably being watched, but was passed the point of caring. She was a slender waif, with green eyes, and strawberry blond hair, that possessed the most unruly, thick curls. She could speak her mind and was not afraid to offend, those with a stiff upper lip. She, was not at all like the English ladies that shared her circles. The investigation stated, there was no signs of foul play. She had drowned, the word misadventure was used. Whatever that means? Inside the house, the maids spoke in hushed tones. They were truly afraid of him. Afraid of what they did not know. "she was always so good to me, especially when my father died," whispered Murin Kelly. "it's hard to believe she's six years gone," replied Agnes Ó Brien "and not one tear shed from him. What kind of man is he? When in his presence, I can feel a change come over me, as if he knows my thoughts. Something terrible could have happened between these walls, and it frightens me, to serve such a man. What if it's a mortal sin? Not to have helped her, when we knew she needed help." Whatever the case, Henry Hillmann never buried his wife. The day before her funeral, a truck bearing an empty metal coffin arrived at his yard . Four, armed men, had driven from the American Embassy in Dublin with a warrant. It stated her remains belonged with her family on the other side of the Atlantic, and they were not leaving without her. The lack of Resistance they met from him, spoke volumes. Henry Hillman simply never spoke her name again. It was as if she, never existed. Their marriage was arranged. A syybol of strength between two powerful families. A natural progression, and evolution.

I wish I had been able to study Lee Child about two years ago. I have been trying to produce a decent action adventure novel and have just finished a year's excellent course wit h Jericho Writers. A lot of what Lee Child has given me has explained in clearer terms some of the things I have learned, but more than that, it has re-ignited my excitement in what I am doing. I can't wait to attack the agents again.
