“Carol Ann Duffy becomes a friend and a mentor in this fabulous course. She’s down to earth, gives brilliant hints and tips from a lifetime as a poet, is always encouraging and her anecdotes and examples engage from beginning to end. I loved the exercises - like creating a word hoard and writing poetry inspired by art. Each lesson is timed right to allow for contemplation afterwards. Anyone interested in poetry would enjoy these marvellous lessons from such a wonderful teacher.
I am now thinking about doing perhaps a Creative Writing MA -this course has been a brilliant push in the right direction. I plan to buy my friend the course for a birthday gift.”

“Thoroughly enjoyed it. Wanted to get into poetry. Jolly good intro. Relevant. Informative. Incisive with personal anecdotes that made it real. Got into all the examples and wrote (obediently!) as invocated (?).”

“Amazing poet but as a teacher Ms Duffy is very flat. Also lessons are short and uneven. But in spite of these comments it is interesting to hear what she has to say.”

“it was informative and interesting, simple and yet sparked new ideas. it also left me hungry for more....
other writers and opinions it opened up many new questions which there wasn't space to put answers or the course would have been much longer.
More generally I would love another course perhaps on appreciation, artistic vision or on historical writers such as Yates, Ted Hughes, etc”
