“I am loving Ken Follett's course and to be honest, will be quite sad when it concludes. I had previously done Isabel Allende's course (she's an author I've read), and despite not having read any of Mr Follett's books (a mistake I will correct immediately!) - it didn't matter. His advice applies to everyone doing any genre of writing. It was inspired to have guests in some of the lessons to elucidate further, and how generous to share beyond writing tips, to explain his process and what works for him as an author. I really cannot rate this course high enough - I have found it invaluable and so enouraging. Now I'm off to bury myself in 'The Pillars of the Earth'! Do the course...you'll learn, you'll enjoy, you'll maybe discover a new favourite author.”

In particular, his wisdom and expertise, shared with such generosity of spirit, in writing about character/s. Ken has such a warm and witty manner in his delivery and such a gentlemanly approach to sharing his writing process. I highly recommend this course, if you are serious about writing quality fiction.”

“The course "Writing Bestselling Fiction" was fantastic.
It was well structured, each topic was dealt with in depth, and Ken Follett’s eloquence and dry humour make it a pure joy to listen and learn.
During this course I was given key insights into his personal writing process and attitude as a writer. What I think makes this course stand out from others is the fact that Ken Follett uses innumerable examples from world literature to help students understand complex concepts and what to aim for. Quite a few of the books he mentions have already been added to my read-ing list for 2025. The course also made me more aware of what to focus on when reading, so that as a consequence I can improve my writing skills while indulging in my passion for stories.
I also enjoyed the appearance of his special guests who shared information on fact checking, the publishing process and marketing in 2025. The course was perfectly rounded off with a Question and Answer Session.
One could tell that Ken Follett put a lot of thought and effort into this course.

“I enjoyed this course. Ken Follett's love of reading and writing came across. He was animated and amusing. He showed us how he worked using three screens, he chatted with his granddaughter (also a writer) and he gave helpful practical advice.
This is the fourth BBC Maestro course I have watched and I would rate it in the top two for watchability and helpfulness. I would recommend this course.”
