“Never heard of Me Allende, I love all things writing and reading, loved her process and how she interwoven life and her character into her telling of her processes”
“What a priceless gift to learn from Isabel Allende! Her teaching is practical and uplifting and I found myself inspired by her insight and experiences. She shared many useful tools, exercises, and practical advice that I will carry forward in my writing adventures.”

“I love her work, and her course is inspiring. One small niggle, though, is that she makes a sweeping generalisation about girls and boys, starting with reading fantasy, the girls (she claims) moving away from it as they get older, and the boys staying with it and even (God forbid!) moving on to science fiction, too. This is clearly not the case. Also, fantasy and science fiction are not necessarily formulaic, though works are, to be fair, because many wonderful writers and novels completely breaking any perceived mould or formula. Other than these small carps, a great course.”

Celebrity-interest
“Even though Isabel Allende claims to have been "accused" of being a magical realist, there is something magical about her earlier works we all love. So, to that end, attaching the word "magical" to the title of this lecture series was a bit misleading. It's also important to make it very clear that the course is meant for a beginning writer who needs the pep talks and motivation to get started. As an advanced student of writing I did, nevertheless, get a lot out of the series, but mostly the joy of hearing Allende's ideas and examples from her own writing.”
