“Absolutely loved this course and highly recommend it. I learnt so much and applied the tips to my writing as the course progressed. It was very interesting hearing from Julia's team and how the illustrator, agent, publisher and editor works together. As a teacher the inclusion of so many examples of good picture books was wonderful to see. I can honestly say I was sorry to reach the conclusion.”

“I recently rewatched this course because it's good. There's everything a beginning children's book author needs to know and delivered by Julia Donaldson. What's not to love. After I wrapped my mind around the basics, I come back for the technical details and a refresher. Thanks you AGAIN BBC Maestro.”

“This course is a gem! It exceeded my expectations in every possible way. Julia Donaldson is an amazing teacher; she engagingly presented each lesson, and lots of real-life examples were provided throughout the various topics. Thank you to the producers of this course for also giving me a taste of the world of literary agents, editors, illustrators, and screenplay producers. Many thanks go to Julia for sharing this abundance of information in such a short time and for encouraging others to write. My biggest "aha" moments were that manuscripts should be submitted without illustrations, and that publishers of children's picture books prefer texts that can easily be translated into different languages. In the end, the course inspired me to visit the local library more often and check out all the books available by Julia Donaldson as well as those of other writers she mentioned in the course. "The Gruffalo" was out on loan, which didn't take me by surprise.”
