“As a writer of fiction, I work with words all day long, so I decided to try this monitor designed for coding. I am so glad I did. Turning on HiDPI makes the text is so sharp and crisp, combined with the 3:2 ratio (brilliant!) I can actually put more on this screen than I can with my 32-inch 1440 display. The various features to adjust blue light, brightness, etc., were easy to adjust and once set, they just work. Finally, the flexible arm makes moving and adjusting positioning so easy that I can more easily shift from sitting to standing and do soo when needed rather than when I have to.
Everyone has their own preferences and needs, but if you are a writer, and you've never spent a bit more to get a 4K monitor, this might be the one you should try out. Since it's nice to have as much monitor real estate as possible to put up mind maps detailing plots and events and whatever else a writer needs on their organizational wall, my original intent had been to use this monitor in portrait mode for the actual text, next to my 32-inch BenQ GW3290QT (1440), but after one week, it was an easy decision to take advantage of the holiday deals from BenQ and order a second RD280UA, and that is probably the best recommendation I could give, right?”
“The BenQ Fine-Coated Panel is insanely good. Compared to my $600 Dell UltraSharp, the difference in reflectivity is incredible. I've never seen a monitor soak up reflections like this one. This has massively improved eyestrain for me, allowing lower brightness and still have better clarity.
The size and aspect ratio is very good for IDEs like Visual Studio, although I personally would prefer an inch or two smaller for less light and less head movement. 28" really is the absolute maximum size for me.
I like the MoonLight. Switching between monitor settings and profiles is quick, intuitive and easy even without Display Pilot 2. Monitor looks clean and high quality.
I would get the stand over the Ergo Arm, the Egro Arm works just fine but a stand would be easier to position and move and would sit further back on the desk. Ergo Arm does have a nice floating look though.
Viewing angles are not perfect, but don't bother me in everyday work. I noticed the corners of the display looked slightly different when I first set it up and forgot about it pretty much ever since. A 26" version of this display probably would not have the same problem.
This has given me a lot of relief working long hours, hopefully someday we get e-Ink displays that eliminate luminence altogether.”
