Fly12 CE Reviews

3.9 Rating 50 Reviews
After being ran off the road by a car driver and inconclusive police report due to lack of witnesses, I found Cycliq online. These cameras are great and basically are the only bike cameras I could find on the market aside from Go Pro. The Fly 12 has about 4-5 hours battery life depending on resolution. The videos are crisp. It has a built in bike light with 3 solid light modes and 6 flashing light modes. The best 2 features of this camera are the Looping function and the Incident Protection. I put my Cycliq cameras on my bike each time I ride. It would have been 5 stars if it wasn’t for differences in how to do Manual Capture between Fly 12 and Fly 6. I can’t remember how to do it on each of them, because it’s not the same and because, luckily, I don’t have to do it all the time. On fly 12 it’s just a short press on Q button. But on Fly 6 it’s a 2 second press. It’s frustrating especially because I’m usually shaken up by what just happened on the road. Then I’m having trouble save the footage and frustration grows. Why Cycliq engineers decided to do it is a big mystery to me. Why not make it work the same way on both models?

Very heavy. It stops recording during the ride for no reasons...very strange. Software is not friendly to use at all. Very complicated and long to connected to the laptop or to the smartphone via the dedicated app. Keep making bip all the time during the process... Very very disappointed by this purchase !!!

Battery does not last 7 hours as suggested. It probably last long enough for a metric century but I often ride longer than that. What I do is record when riding alone or with wife, than turn it off when with a group ride. Then turn it back on when finishing my ride when alone again.

It took a while to realise that the 32GB SD card would not work on the Fly12; when I replaced the one supplied by Cycliq I managed to get it going and will be posting the Fly6 videos and these comments on YouTube in a couple of days. I live in NZ and purchased the Cycliq from Australia so the postage asking for a replacement card is not worth while. I was considering buying another Cycliq Fly 12 and Fly 6 for our other bike but given that the goods could be faulty again without any financial viable option to get a replacement I may well go elsewhere and recommend other New Zealanders consider doing the same. Regards, Frances

Easy to use, and the images are very good. I can now capture the frequent near miss events that I encounter, and I'm in the process of reporting one to the police, having the clear evidence provided by my Fly12 and Fly6. I have purchased a bigger memory card for each so I feel confident that everything is captured on my long rides. I highly recommend the Fly12 and Fly6, money well spent.

Overall experience with Cycliq? Not the greatest. Thought I was buying from a UK distributor, waited over 2 weeks for delivery to arrive from Hong Kong. Had to wait up to 5 working days for a reply to my emails. Cameras are great! if you can get to view the images, the supporting App is an absolute shocker! I cant view, edit, share or save any of the files using the mobile Android App. Had I known this I would not have spent £440 on 2 cameras. The workaround is to buy an OTG cable or card reader, however this solution will not enable you to use the Cycliq Apps editing features so forget the stability feature and the Strava & map overlays and you'll need to use a third party editing App. Sad thing is that the camera images are great once you find away to view them. Currently waiting upto 5 working days to back from Cycliq support. Gav.

the unit itself is good, albeit heavy and the mounting of it is not as easy as a garmin although being úpside down may contribute to this. the battery life is not great and getting used to the settings takes a while. I had the unit light turn off for the first three rides - not a great experience in the dark! I am yet to use it after sorting the settings but am using an additional light just in case. I find the video review process to be absolutely awful and needed to seek tech support. I have an i7 laptop and graphics accelerator on board but find video transfers to be so slow its infuriating.
