“upgrading from original FLY6 as it's motherboard died after 4 years.
New FLY 6 Gen 3 is a smaller more compact unit with extra features.
I like the organic light flash mode but i prefer the old FLY6 mounting with a modified large o-ring clamp band.
I don't find the velcro on the new FLY6 to be secure enough as you cannot put any stretch into it and it does slide and more around on the seatpost.”
“I like the camera and light combo very much and does the job that I want. I particularly like the fact that the battery life is about 5 hours. I do 2.5 hour rides so I’ve not run out of battery.
I also like the fact that it records in HD and overwrites old files so requires little or no management.
Charging is also very fast.
The product lets itself down in the way it connects to the bike with the use of velcro straps. The ones I received had a plastic coating on one side which immediately started to disintegrate. I eventually had to remove it from the strap. Once I was able to connect the strap i noticed the end flapped which is not good for aero dynamics, so I had to trim it to fit. After a few rides it starts to get loose. I’ve not yet test tested it in the wet.
Given that you provide a safety harness for the actual camera I expect you are not too confident in it either.
A better connector would be a tight rubber strap as seen on Knog bikes lights.”
“The image quality is very good. The sound is not good, but acceptable. However, I am bothered by the choice between Full HD/30 fps and HD/60 fps. HD/30 fps and Full HD/60 fps would make more sense. Sometimes the camera simply won't connect to the PC, and the only thing that helps is turning it on and off several times. I also find the control via Bluetooth AND GPS negative. Why the hell do I have to turn on GPS to change the settings??? I don't like sharing my location with the Five Eyes and Australian companies. The blocking of files in the event of an accident is very imprecise. Sometimes the camera blocks files even though there was no accident, and when I fell recently nothing was blocked. Conclusion: Good camera with weaknesses.”
“It often doesn't record, even though it has been turned on correctly and gives all of theh indications it is working (and the lights are operating). When it does record, sounds drops out 5 minutes into every recording segment (set at 10 mins). I purchased this unit to replace a Cycliq fly6 CE, which stopped working.
When the unit recorded it was just fine and quality was good. The light is fine, but if you're after a reliable recording device, I cannot recommend, following the problems I have experienced.”
