“Work when roads dry.
When the streets are wet, a proper shot is not possible because of the drops in front of the lens.
I must clean glass more than i do.
I live in area with lots of rain d;°)”
“This is a good product that gives me a certain sense of security while out on the road. It is very quick to charge, easy to mount, secure in the mount over rough roads (I only rarely use the strap with it) and rain resistant. Perhaps the rubber protective shell also helps with the rain resistance.
The biggest drawback is the battery life. Even with the rear light off, in practice this doesn't have the same life as the Fly12 camera. Arguably it would be best if the Fly6 had a longer battery life than the Fly12, so that you can start a long ride in low light (or even have the light on during daylight hours for extra visibility to drivers) and be confident that having a flashing rear light on will not shorten the time of video capture. As it is, on such rides I both a Fly6 and a simple old red LED flashing light, just to get the best/most of both functions.
A bigger battery may well make the light much bigger, and I do like the compact size of the current models. But for a long ride I wouldn't baulk at a bigger one.”
“This was a replacement for my old Fly 6 Gen 2 which died. In the past, I thought the design of the Fly 6 was very good, but the execution was lacking - the units had to be replaced several times for various problems. The new Fly 6 Gen 3 is muhc improved! Ive had it for bout 5-6 months now and it is working great. Good pictures, and it charges much faster than the Gen 2, also lighter and smaller than the Gen 2. Because of my pproblems with the Gen 2, I thought about going with the new Garmin radar/taillight, but what I read about them was it was difficult to get pictures from the unit. I'm very happy with the new Gen 3, easy to get footage to make videos to submit to UpRide.”
“A ni e update to the Fly 6 camera.
PRO A bit smaller in design than the Fly6CE it is replacing. After 6 years, my Gly6CE stopped working
CON FHD resolution no longer available at 60fps. At 60 fps, you only get 720 dpi resolution.
FHD is only avilable at 30 fps.
Battery life is still good, which is why I like Cycliq cameras in the first place.”
“Fantastic build quality and video performance. No problems with these. However, I have two suggestions,
1. I'm not sure I like the way it is mounted to the seat post, i.e. via a velcro band. I'm not sure it will last in the long term and also am worried it will slip down the seatpost on bumpy roads or when it is wet.
2. Battery life can be improved. Currently, it is about 4 hours. What will it be after a couple of years usage? Let's hope for the best. Also, give the short battery life, the Fly 6 should have been engineered with a replaceable battery. That way, if going for a longish ride, a spare battery can be carried and swapped when the original battery is low. And it will solve the issue of deterioration of the battery after a couple of years.
Nonetheless, the Fly6 is still the best option for a rear camera at the moment.”
“Much smaller than the previous Cycliq camera I had a fact that I like
I also like the use of velcro straps rather than the stretch bands on the previous model I used
The metal clasp of the velcro strap needs to be made thicker, as the clasp on the shorter band broke after only two uses when tightening the camera onto the seat post
I don't trust the straps supplied so I bought some from a local hardware store by making the strap narrower to fit through the slot at the rear of the camera
I do use the tether straps on both cameras as they say "just in case"”
“its my 2nd unit first ones bite the dust and you wouldn't honour warranty
having issues seeing videos on my iphone
so for now its a very expensive flashing light”
“I have the GEN2 which has become a little erratic so upgraded.
The good - the size and weight are a big improvement over the previous model; have only done 2 hour rides so haven't fully tested the battery but I expect it'll be solid, even the GEN2 was good when doing 4 hour rides; footage is good quality and stable on road
The bad - silicone cover, feels like it will protect the camera better but it's a right pain for charging. The glass inserts fall out and you basically install everything each time you charge so this wasn't thought through in design; the included mount is so hard to attach so using old mount”
