“I had one of the original Fly 6 devices (I think I bought it off Kickstarter?) for many years, and it worked well. It eventually died, so I purchased a replacement.
This also died within a few months, so I liaised with Cycliq tech support, who advised me to post it back at my own expense. I waited nearly 3 weeks for them to receive it, determine it was faulty, and post back a replacement. The replacement was quite obviously a refurbished unit and not brand new.
I'm pretty unimpressed at having to pay $15 for postage when Cycliq acknowledged that the original unit was faulty. At the very least the return postage should be free.
The unit itself is great, but the approach to dealing with a faulty product left a bad taste in my mouth.”
“There's no competition, but it's still not in the same class as the fly12. I've had every version of fly6, being an avid all-weather cyclist, while the gen 3 is the best available I have still had to have it replaced twice in the warranty period. Bot times in cold weather or heavy rain. Putting win the fridge seemed to fix the issue for some time!
Overall the fly12 and fly6 don't have any competition for cyclists because of the long battery life”
“Seriously let down by the mounting.
Velcro straps too long to effectively grip and lock in place on the seat post.
Only packing big enough was for aero post ... which I don't have.
Used the 1/8 turn locking system, when the rest of the world uses 1/4 turn, so incompatible with Garmin seat rail mounts.
Ended up having to jury rig an old Cycliq 1/8 turn to action cam mount, and have that monstrosity on my seat post.
Video wise ... far better than the Gen 2 I used to have ...
But ffs, get rid of that 1/8 turn mount and go universal - or start making a far wider range of high quality mounts that are fit for purpose.”
