“Takes steady, very high-resolution videos. However, videos should be viewable directly on a smart phone with the associated Cycliq app without needing additional hardware to download videos to the phone. This would make it simple to show law enforcement "at the scene of the crime". If you don't carry the microSD card adapter with you, you need to wait until you can get home to view any videos. The Cycliq APP does have menus to view "Saved" videos which means editing it with the Cycliq APP and then saving it to the Cycliq APP. This works only with videos you have already manually downloaded from the card to the phone. Playback of these saved videos is limited to viewing them with the phone in the vertical position and the video in horizontal format, so it is small on the screen. The iPhones Photo APP is so much more robust, I don't see why anyone would want to upload them to view them on the Cycliq APP. Essentially, the Cycliq APP is pretty much useless except for indicating the battery level with a little more precision that the beeps you get on shut down. Cycliq has really fallen down on integrating the camera with the phone via the APP.”
“Battery life and loss of 60fps at 1080p is a big step back from the 2nd gen; still 4.5 hours but means that those longer rides now need a charger. And for a model that's now been out 2 years, it's unacceptable that the audio is a whole second in advance of the video due to a 'firmware' issue.
However, support for larger cards and correctly saving the current *and* last segment is a step forward.”
“Battery life is terrible. My Gen 2 battery would last 5 or 6 hours while on flash mode. Gen 3 battery goes dead after 2 hours on flash mode. Maybe 3.5 hours if I just film and don't turn on the flasher. This is the last Cycliq product I will purchase.”
“I would recommend it because it does work and is the only game in town. But battery charge is still inadequate on this third version. Less than 4 hours if you use lights. And 2 previous versions had battery failures within 2 years (wear out) and they still do not provide means of replacement. They seriously need competition.”
“Still struggling with the mini-memory chip (format and saved settings, possible size-upgrade), and a solid-enough, ‘square’-enough rear mount. The concept is good, and the images (while unstabilized) are of good quality.
Yet to discover the ‘sweet-spot’ between enough light for nightrides and dependable battery-life.
