This is my 2nd fly6 gen3 but that doesn’t tell the whole story. My original one was brilliant, as is the 2nd, unfortunately the 1st one wasn't recording fully but after a few emails with Patrick the problem was resolved and a new one sent out, all hassle free for myself. The product itself is brilliant and is a lifesaver, literally, & the customer service that Patrick and the team provide was also top notch, they couldn’t do enough. Much appreciated guys, keep up the great work.

The Fly6 Gen 3 is a great concept with its neat looks and small design offering a level of safety with its many light modes and the cameras’ ability to capture quality video footage. The recharge time is very quick. In particular the cameras ability to capture any unsafe acts by any road users in whatever type of vehicle when out riding, which can be used as evidence if the need arises is great. However the battery life and reliability unlike the older Fly6 non CE and Fly6 V, which are physically bigger is not adequate for a lengthy ride especially when using one of the many light modes available and riding in wet conditions. I tend to carry a small power pack to recharge the Fly6 Gen 3 and my Garmin, if I am stopping for a coffee on a long ride or use the Fly6 Gen 3 as camera only alongside a supplementary rear light if not, which defeats the object of the Fly6 Gen3. It has proven to be unreliable when riding in wet conditions without mudguards where it is unable to deal with the constant water spray, light or heavy, from the rear wheel, the use of the silicone cover which is available as an optional accessory is a must but is in its self not totally waterproof due to its design and can let water seep in. If the Cycliq could overcome the water ingress issue of the Fly 6 Gen 3 it would be without doubt “best in class”. I will still not ride my bike without the Fly 6 be it the older generations which I still use or the latest Gen 3. Support from Cycliq using their support ticket process has been very good when issues arise.

The image quality is just ok. I reviewed some videos and could only identify maybe half the license plate numbers. The battery life is TERRIBLE. On ride, the battery lasted about 2 hours. Another ride, 2 hours and 40 minutes. Far less than what is advertised. Customer support is totally lacking. It takes several days to get a response. In 2022, it shouldn’t be too hard to get very high resolution video with long battery life for a reasonable price. This unit is very expensive for what it is and many years behind the time with its technology. The battery life, however, is just abysmal. No way it can be useful for many of my longer rides.

Works pretty well! 1.) My main feedback/ minor complaint is that the on/off button and the other button on the other side are both difficult to see and feel, and I tend to fumble around a bit for a while to figure out how to get the bloody thing activated. I understand that that is partly 'cos I now need reading glasses to see smaller things closer in, but it still ought not be this difficult, especially after more than a couple of weeks using it regularly. Can you make the switch a different colour perhaps, instead of just more black? Or make it stand out, or more depressed, from the rest of the black casing, or, make it more textured so we can identify it more easily by feel? 2.) Night vision needs improvement: is it that the red glare from the bright glow of the light obscures vision to a certain extent, or does the camera just not pick up licence plate numbers so well at night, mostly because of lack of light to start with? 3.) I get that it's more for transit commuting than long distance/ all-day rides, and it works really well for the common zip across town and back for work or play that takes a half hour more or less, and, I do appreciate that it is small and light but that that necessarily restricts the amount of battery storage due to smaller size, so, I look forward to the day when improved battery tech allows longer use case scenarios, eg. cycling touring or full-day training rides. For the current price point, I hope that day is soon! Overall, I get that the market is still new and huge and there is limited competition, but it still seems a bit expensive. I am still glad to have bought it, but, I will be even happier when it is more affordable so that other folks can buy more too, so we all together can affect the shockingly entitled and aggressive driving behaviour here in the capital city of New Zealand. (See this recent clip from about the 4 minute mark where TWO consecutive cars passed way too close for comfort or safety to me. Apologies: this was taken with an old and badly mounted Contour Roam, shortly before it died on me in approximately the same week my Fly 6 arrived. ... Guess I'd better get a 12 now too, huh?!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPlQOAUxnik

I only use this product as there does not appear to be any other option. It’s old technology. This is the second one, the first one had a drop of rain and packed up immediately.

The first one transformed into a paper weight after about 5 weeks of use. Let's hope this one lasts a little longer. At least you replaced it for me.

Hi Cycliq, thank you for asking for my opinion of the Fly 6 Gen 3. I like the concept of video camera, micro SD recording medium witH looping, and lighting choices. So far I have had two Fly 6 Gen 3’s. The first one lasted three weeks, then overheated drastically and died. The warranty replacement unit did not work through the first ride. I am waiting (more than a week since the second failed unit arrived back to you!?!) for what I hope will be a reliable unit. Please see Cyclic RMA 91409AR for my current problem. Reference USPS tracking 9505510437332133498650 for my return of the second failed unit to your Torrance, California facility. I DO get your Upride emails, the latest headed Atrocious Adelaide. Cycliq trumpets your product as very useful… I want this to be true! Can you please help your Customer Service group get me a reliable warranty replacement Fly 6 Gen 3? This would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much, Ward Curtis Molokai, Hawaii, USA
