“I have a laptop backpack that I love, but every time I travel, I lament that it doesn't have a luggage pass through sleeve so I started searching for a new backpack.
Who knew I was so picky? I didn't want it to look too masculine or boxy. I didn't want it to look to look too tech-y. Or dressy. I also didn't want it to be too floppy and unsupportive for my laptop.
Day Owl's Backpack Pro checked all the boxes. My only complaint is that I wish it came in more fun colors. I almost went with a different brand because I wanted something less neutral, but I'm glad I gave the gray a chance and I figure I can accessorize it.
Reasons to love it:
- Professional enough for the office, but casual enough to use on vacation too.
- Not too boxy or floppy, but just right!
- Contrasting light colored interior so finding items inside is easier.
- Separate drink compartment that keeps silhouette slim. I didn't think about how bottles slipping out of external side pockets or clanking into things was annoying when I lay my backback down until it stopped doing it.
- My old backpack had a similar small top zippered compartment so I was pleased to find the same feature existed as I was so used to accessing frequently used items there.
- The luggage strap to rest your bag on a suitcase! The long lines at the airport was the reason I needed a new backpack in the first place.
- No-slack straps? This was a feature I didn't know I needed. I'm a short girl, I usually have to pull the straps tight and end up with a ton of loose strap waving around. The lack of dangling straps makes you feel less like a kid.
- Macbook Pro 16" fits fine with room to spare.

“The bag is well constructed and seems durable. I really like the design. The downside for me so far is that the fabric scratches very easily. It arrived with scuffs and scrapes etched in and I added a few of my own before it even left my house. They don’t buff out so hopefully with time it looks like a patina of wear instead of how it currently just looks a bit shabby. I’ll add that my particular 32 oz water bottle does not fit in the designated pouch. Overall, I’m happy with the purchase, but it’s not perfect.”

This is the nature of our waxed canvas products. These waxed finishes protect the fabric and also show the textured movement history of the material. Some of the marks occur in production or during transportation. Each bag has its own unique character. The more you use it the more it becomes unique to you according to how you personally handle your bag.

If you want to try to remove some of the creases, just warm up a good hair dryer and run it over the areas you’d like to recondition. Our recycled canvas has layers of wax on it, so the mild heat will melt the top layer of wax to see fewer creases.

“I’ve had this backpack for around 2 months now and am a big fan so far. It has a nice, clean look, with thoughtfully arranged pockets. I use it as my daily office bag, plus the occasional light travel. I was pleasantly surprised to find that, despite it exceeding the listed capacity, my 32oz HydroFlask fits perfectly in the water bottle pocket. This bag is expensive for what you get, but thus far I’ve found it to be worth it.”
