I love that the bag maintains a beautiful aesthetic while still being extremely functional. I wish that the main compartment was a bit larger with a bit more space. I also found that the water bottle pocket, while nice in theory, is largely non functional. When I utilize the space in the main pocket, there is no space left for the water bottle, since it essentially has to fit in that main pocket as well. The benefit of water bottle pockets on the outside is that they fit no matter what is inside your bag, which doesn't hold true for this bag. Overall I would say I'm really happy with the backpack and will use it all through college. A few minor changes would be nice, but it's still a great bag as is.

Love the slim backpack! It fits everything that used to fit in my other giant backpack while remaining very low profile, and it doesn't look "stuffed." Love having a separate bag that looks professional to take to work, and I can use my other bag (an Osprey) solely as a hiking bag now! The water bottle pocket is great for my umbrella and the laptop pocket is perfect for my 13" Macbook. Also got a cord pouch to go inside and I feel more organized than ever! The brands mission and commitment to remaining sustainable and repairing/replacing worn products also was a huge reason I decided to make this purchase, and I couldn't be more happy.

I thought of this bag for nearly a month before placing an order - took a really long time to decide between colours and sizes before deciding on the smaller maple brown. I've since been using the bag for more than a month nearly daily and love the look, feel and functionality of it. I can safely say it's the best bag I've ever had. However the bag does come with issues. First, delivery was delayed, bag was lost at one point but I live in Singapore so I accept there might be some complications with long distance delivery. Customer support was very friendly and responsive throughout so that mitigated that problem. Then, I finally got the bag and began using it. I loved it and didn't regret the smaller size for my frame (160cm height) cause I didn't want to look like a turtle. It all boiled down to what I needed everyday and that includes my 13" laptop. The only issue is that the flat side pocket of the smaller bag (which I think has been discontinued?) can't fit my Samsung S10, and I think wont be able to fit my passport either cause it's quite narrow. Small issue But then came the bigger issue, as a week went by, I realised the bag straps were not fixed on evenly. The side which attaches to the base is asymmetrical, which makes the bag list slightly no matter how much you adjust the length of the straps. You can't really feel it when you wear the bag, but it's obvious to others looking at it. So I wrote to DayOwl and the same (I think) friendly support personnel offered me a discount before sending another piece. I couldn't send the flawed bag back because it was too expensive from where I lived. Alas, when I got the new piece it had the exact same issue with the straps. So now I have two exact pieces of the kind. I still love the bag and will continue using it. Just wish that the issue could have been resolved, at least before they sent the new bag. Perhaps now that DayOwl discontinued the smaller, the issue has been resolved. Kudos to the team for effort and help though! Looking forward to more.

I've been looking for a sleek laptop bag that can carry my 16" MacBook and miscellaneous daily needs, and this one hits all my boxes. The different pockets are SO useful! I no longer have to go digging in the black hole that is my other backpack for things that I can only hope fell to the bottom because I know where everything is in my Day Owl. Each pocket has it's own use and is perfectly sized for my needs (the water bottle pocket actually fits my entire 32oz nalgene—I was shocked and amazed). The inside compartment pockets are also perfect for keeping my chargers at bay, and I just love the ease of access for each pocket. I'm excited to use this as my travel backpack some day, especially since it has the luggage strap. I know some of the reviews mentioned that the backpack straps were a little narrow, but I personally find them to be the right width and still very comfortable. And the length adjustment doesn't have any loose strap flying around, which I love. Cannot recommend this backpack enough!

Backpack is really comfortable and I'm able to fit everything I need: Laptop, chargers, makeup/misc items, water bottle, change of clothes for gym, etc. Even with all of those items, it's lightweight and comfortable to wear. Definitely recommend!

I was looking for a daily, professional use backpack and began with one from a different sustainability-focused company, and Facebook surprised me by advertising something I was actually looking for - it was The Backpack! I loved the look and all the thoughtful pockets featured in the ads, and was thrilled to learn about the exceptional Earth-consciousness of Day Owl. It turned out to be the best fit for my needs, it looks beautiful and cool, it was a very reasonable price, and I love that I am also supporting sustainability. I'm loving it! The color is cute, the materials feel very high-end, and I feel sleek and minimalist carrying everything I need, (including a very supportive spot for my work computer) instead of frantically carrying a bag and five things that didn't fit in it. (I'm an elementary teacher so I am always carrying a work laptop, at least one notebook/planner, a small purse, a water bottle and usually a coffee traveler, my lunch, and other random items. This holds it all!)
