Only genuine Dine a Chook Feeders can tick all the boxes. If you have been considering a treadle feeder, you seriously need to read more. Yes, a treadle feeder can feed chickens. But what the salespeople don't tell you is the downside: The feed can get wet if the chooks open the lid while it is raining; Also, chickens can walk on their food, meaning their feed gets contaminated with droppings; And let's not forget that chickens will naturally rake the feed onto the ground, which is an invitation for rodents.
Dine a Chook Feeders revolutionised the Chicken Feeder. Our patent-pending design has so many features to combat all the issues above.
How a Dine a Chook feeder saves you money:
No more wet feed. Our rain hood and gutter stops even the most torrential rain.
Helps prevent rodents by keeping feed off the ground.
Waste reducing design that stops chickens raking feed.
No moving parts to wear out or replace.
No cheap plastic here. Dine a Chook is Australian made. We use UV treated, ASA thermoplastic, better than PVC in the elements.
How many chickens will the Small Chicken Feeder Twin Pack feed?
If you have a medium to large size flock of 8 chooks, this twin pack will keep them fed for up to 4 days. It will adequately feed up to 5 hens for 5 - 7 days. And remember, the chickens won't be eating mouldy wet feed. They will get wholesome, tasty, dry feed every time they go to the feeder.
Can other poultry use a Dine a Chook?
Yes. Ducks, turkey and geese can also use Dine a Chook. So if you have a mixed poultry flock, they can all enjoy the tasty, fresh feed. And how good is this? If you ever visit Townsville Billabong Wildlife Sanctuary, go look at their happy emus which simply love their DAC feeder!
What type of feed can I use in a Dine a Chook?
A waste-reducing feeder can only do so much. If you use the wrong type of feed, you will end up with waste. While you could use a scratch mix or homemade scrap mix in a Dine a Chook, it defeats the purpose of our waste-reducing design. If chickens are fed scratch mix, they will pick out what they like and leave the rest resulting in feed waste. We recommend a pellet or mash feed. Pellets and mash provide your hens with the best nutrient-rich diet as well as stopping selective eating behaviour. So it is better to pay a little more for feed and save money by stopping feed wastage.

Just purchased 2 feeders, and they are great. Very easy to install, chooks learned to use them quickly. Very clean. I bought a waterer over a year ago, and I'm still impressed - means we can now go away for a few days, and the chooks are well looked after!

Great feeders, reduce waste and discourage bigger birds. Chooks got the hang of it quickly.

Very good and keeps food dry and away from pests such as wild birds. Downside is if you have chooks of varying heights and they seem slow to find the food at first. Also, small opening means only one chook can feed at a time, so you need to buy more than one feeder.

My Isa Browns needed no convincing and work out how to use the feeders within 10min of introduction. My silkies aren't the brightest hens in the pen but with a little strategic placement of some mealworms they worked out what was going on. I love dine-a-chook's products, the quality and design are undeniable.

Great product. Much less wastage and no more pigeons eating the food! If only I could stop the sparrows too. I was worried my chickens would be wary, but they took to their new feeders with no problem.
