“This heater was suggested as a possible replacement for my Redring Powerstream Eco 10.8 kw unvented instant shower heater. This is important since Redring seem unable to supply any of their shower heaters, a problem if your shower heater has failed. This heater is of an interesting design being quite a large rectangular box, wall mounted with a glass front panel containing display of water temperature in and out as well as flow rate and shower duration. There is a power button along with temperature increase and decrease button.
The unit is prewired and 40 amp fused spur is suggested to control it. I could not find such a fused spur and instead connected via a junction box to the previous power supply circuit I had installed.
The water inlet and outlet are 1/2" pipe connectors. I used two 600 mm flexible hoses and connected these to the existing water in and out 15 mm pipes.
To use the shower, you press the power button and the screen comes to life. Opening the shower valve starts the unit and it quickly settles to a comfortable temperature which is well maintained.
The maximun temperature of the hot water is stated as 55 C but I dont know how that matches the water temperature I like. I did see that the flow rate the unit displayed was more than 6 litres per minute.
So, a successful replacement for the Redring unit. It is provided with a two year warranty and arrives at a very much lower price than the comparable Redring unit.
All in all, I am very satisfied with this heater, the manufacturer to whom I spoke for advice, and the supplier from whom I purchased.”
