“I was hoping to love this soup but it’s just not good. Hardly any flavor and the mild broth is nothing like hot and sour. It could be a base to add on too if you want to add some garlic, ginger, chili oil, etc. I thought it was nice it had tofu but the tofu doesn’t taste right and the texture doesn’t go with the rest of the soup.”
“I missed Hot & Sour Soup since going vegan - all my local restaurants add meat to theirs. I added cubed extra firm tofu to make this a very filling meal.”
“This soup has plenty of ingredients already in it, but feel free to add more and turn it into a Chinese feast. More fresh or frozen veggies, beaten eggs, noodles, sliced rice cake, soft tofu, mushrooms, fresh cilantro, a little dark vinegar or lime juice and some extra heat from your favorite spice stash. Whatever you got, throw it in for a quick hot meal perfect for a cold winters day.”
“I personally wasn’t a fan of it, but that’s because I don’t like mushrooms (I didn’t buy it, it was part of a gift). Other than the mushrooms though, it was just okay. I wouldn’t buy it again, but I’m sure if you’re okay with mushrooms, it’d be pretty good.”
