“I like these Hard Yakka pants, they are made from thick material, they effectively shield against thorns and blackberries. The design includes flip out external pockets at the top, allowing easy access to tools even when bending down. However, the Hard Yakka knee pads that are ment to go with them were disappointing. They were too small for the knee pockets, causing them to shift and fail to protect your knees . I solved this by crafting my own knee pads from yoga mats, which worked flawlessly.
Despite their strengths, these pants have a notable flaw. I first noticed this issue with a friend's pair, which he loved despite the problem. The thread at the bottom to the left of the zip frays due to frequent bending, leading to holes after six months. Initially, I thought this was due to prolonged use, as my friend's wife had patched his multiple times.
In search of a new pair, I turned to Hard Yakka own website, expecting fair pricing. To my dismay after I ordered them, I found them $40 cheaper at a store. Even if you were to add expess postage, the price difference was still significant. While I appreciate the pants' quality, I wish the fraying issue by the zip could be resolved and pricing made consistent. A fair price difference of around ten dollars would be acceptable, but a $40 disparity feels unreasonable.
These pants are excellent in many ways. If the fraying by the zip flaw could be fixed and pricing standardized, they would be perfect. Despite the setbacks, I remain fond of them and hope for improvements in future versions.”

“Been buying them for nearly 20 years and while there have been obvious cost cutting in manufacture and materials they still represent excellent value and they excell in longevity on the worksite. As a tradie/sparky they answer all requirements.... lots of pockets, strengthened wear areas and relatively cool to work in.”
