Maris Piper  Maris Piper seed potatoes are the undisputed, number one spud of choice for almost all local chip shops. It's the combination of it's excellent cooking and frying qualities that make the Maris Piper potato stand out from the rest, and today it is still grown on a large commercial scale.Maris Piper tubers are oval shaped with white skins and cream coloured flesh. They are also a option for long-term storage. Maincrop seed potatoes mature in 125-140 days and, if planted in late April, can be harvested by mid August.    SOIL PREPARATION: Ideal soil conditions for growing potatoes are sandy loam soils which can be enriched with lots of organic matter to aid water retention and provide suitable feeding for you potatoes. Heavy clay soils can be improved by adding sharp sand and lots of organic matter in the autumn of the year so that the new soil mixture can be exposed to frost which will help break up the soil structure and make it easier to work with.   If you are unable to get organic matter you can add compost to the area you wish to plant your potatoes in. PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS: Each potato should be 25cm from the next, with rows spaced 60cm apart. Always make sure the eyes are facing upwards. Drills should be 15cm deep. CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Water well in dry spells. HARVESTING INSTRUCTIONS: Harvest June-July. Dig up mature potatoes and store them in a cool, dry and dark location. Potatoes can be stored for several months. Tip: when harvesting, remove all foliage and small potatoes from the soil and discard, to avoid diseases on next year’s crop.   Plant as soon as possible after purchase. Keep in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place until planting. Keep free from frost. Grown from cultivated stock.

Good service, as always... Royal Mail delivery..Ordered 4pm yesterday..Turned up at 1pm today.Impressive.Good value. Dont plant until 'hard frosts' are behind us..and plant correctly (Plenty of vids and instructions on the web)If any rotten or long shoots in parcel you get..just chuck them and plant the rest, as per instructions.Get some nice, tall potato planters, stick in the sunlight and earth up as needed.Always had good stock and yield from JBA..Always read up on the web 'how to' tho..Excellent for kids to grow and eat what they grown..

So far so good.. I underestimated how many potatoes were going to arrive. I only had 2 potato grow bags. So I had to order 3 more. They came looking like normal potatoes with barely any small proud. However, I add them to the little bags they came with and added some soil, bit of water and as you can see(from the picture) they rooted within 4 days. The only problem is, I now need more soil for the other 3 pots. And THERE ARE STILL SEED POTATOES LEFT. I'm trying not to waste any so I guess my whole garden is going to be taken over by potato bags...Fun. Well, guess the next annual mash potato dinner party event is happening at my house.

Pleased, thus far.. The proof of the pudding here will be in the eating but that won’t be for months. That said, these little fellows arrived on time, were well packaged and look to be healthy. They now need to chit on the windowsill for a couple of weeks to grow their eyes before I can plant them.
