About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “Nice , wooden set hand carved, beautifully. packaged and wrapped ...my set had a major problem...the rook pieces looked like a dog had been chewing them and when you open up the board which is great quality they didnt line up ..the squares didnt line up and the edging that was painted on again was a few millimeters out ..a minor detail but annoying...so emailed company and after a quick reply all was sorted , great customer service..nice to play with a wooden set which is very traditional”
