I had expected better quality from a chess set costing 40 ! The checkered pattern doesnt match up correctly when the board is opened up flat and some pieces have varnish drips underneath the felt bases which means they dont sit straight on the beard. Come on Jagues ... for this price you should be doing a lot better!

My husband and I really enjoy chess and I have been looking for a chess set for a long time that was well crafted, neat and also good value for money. We found it at Jacques London. When the chess set arrived it was beautifully wrapped and presented with a note telling us it had been personally wrapped by Victoria. The instructions were really well presented on cards and came in a lovely envelope. The pieces themselves are wonderfully crafted and there is little elasticated string that holds the individual chess pieces with in the board when you want to store it away.I highly recommend buying your chess set from Jacques.

Disappointed with the finish of the chess pieces. In the photos supposedly the same item! the quality of each piece looked much higher, thats why I decided to spend a bit more for what I thought we be better quality . Especially from such a highly regarded company .

An ok chess board, cheap enough but even for the money you would expect all of the pieces to at least stand up straight

I was disappointed by the overall quality. Rough edges and the shine coating is already peeling off after a week.

Disappointed. Wrapping beautiful but main board had dried varnish drips in a couple of places that spoiled it overall. Also one of the chess pieces was chipped in manufacture and varnished over. Overall production quality was disappointing so did not find product value for money.
