“It's tiny. It's made of wood. It's a fully functioning chess set that I'm going to take on holiday with us and was a million times more appealing than the usual ugly magnetic travel sets.
For under a tenner (including postage) this feels like an impossibility in 2024.
I would have been happy to pay double for such a lovely item, Jaques.
It also arrived quickly and was beautifully hand packaged - consider me impressed!”
“The quality of the chess set is great, it’s very well made. My one criticism is that the pieces don’t fit very tightly into the holes and fall out at the lightest touch. As it’s used as a travel chess set this makes it a little difficult not to lose the pieces”
“Very efficient delivery. Well packaged in 'gift wrap' style. All as described online.
Only criticism is that chess pieces do not fit snugly in holes on board so are easily dislodged.
As a 'travel set' this defeats the whole purpose of being able to play whilst in transit.
Magnetic chess pieces/board is therefore a better option.”
“A bit disappointed with this. I had a similar set as a child and had beenn loking for something similar for a long time. In the set i remember the pieces were held firmly in the holes and effectively you could put the pieces in put the lid on and carry the set around ready for a new game. In the current version the "plugs" rattle around in thewholes and are very easy to accidentally knock out. (particularly annoying when playing a game) . The figures are also not that well diferentiated, particlualy the pawns and bishops. I would happily pay more money for a better quality product”
“This was for a gift for a colleague who was leaving so I didn't unpack it but had nice packaging. Unfortunately it arrived a day later than expected as Amazon Shipping delivered it to another company on our industrial estate even though it had the correct name and address on the parcel.”
