In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “Pity about this long established company. I needed a replacement ball for a Jaques croquet set. I sent them the names of the set and the ball type. First they denied making what I needed but were able to identify it from their own advertising leaflet and photos of the box I sent. When I tried to order the ball, my order was refused. I guess that was because they won't ship to Northern Ireland even though they use Amazon logistics which does operate here. Laterly they haven't answered my emails. And £20 for a single ball is a tad overpriced I think.”
