“I've been riding my Pennyboard Nickel Flame for about 3 years, and I'm talking daily. It's how I get around doing my handyman work in inner Melbourne, normally with a heavy backpack full of tools(lost my licence for being a dickhead).
I found the board, minus wheels during a hard rubbish cycle in The StKildez!
Prior to that I'd been riding a normal popsicle type deck.
So I cleaned the rusty trucks, the deck, fitted Bones Reds bearings, 54mm Softies wheels(the more street style shape and cut) and put some colour co-ordinated medium red bushings on.
The board looks grouse, it's fast, smooth, quiet, and quite frankly the best ride of any type I've had in the last 3 or so years(sorry ladies).
Not to take away from the normal Pennyboard set up, which is excellent, but I recommend upgrading bearings and wheels at least to take your Penny to another level altogether.
As a 42 year old man child, I took up skating when my 10 year old son got into it, but i can't afford to break many bones, so tricks aren't an option for me, but bombing hills, and plenty of kickin , pushin, coastin(onya Lupe')
and carving up the streets in my burb keep me fit-ish, feeling young and bloody grateful I took up skating and came across my Pennyboard Nickel Flame.
It's the board I learned to really skate on and I can't talk Pennyboards up enough.
Pennyboards rock!”
