This lock replaced the original on my 1981 MGB GT after the electrical section fell off. The new lock fitted easily and plugged into the car’s existing connectors. Note: the new lock has more cables than were required for my car.

Sadly, when my MGBGT was delivered , something was done to the key so that it became impossible to withdraw it from the lock. I decided to buy the replacement set offered by the MGOC and it arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I entrusted the fitting to my local engineer who has massive experience of older cars and I watched him fit it. Steering column was dropped and then the cowlings removed and finally it was time to remove the anti theft bolts. Access to drill the bolts out was virtually impossible so using a sharp centre puch and gentle and carefull tapping with a hammer, the two bolts were finally removed. Re-fitting was straightforward apart from the multi pin plastic connector which took a lot of extra work to allow it to mate up with the pins on the plastic male part of the plug. Not an easy fit for sure. All put back together and working very nicely but glad I didn't attempt the job as it certainly took a bit of experienced skill and patience. Took just an hour to do. Hope this might help anyone thinking of doing the job.
