Many MGF and TF owners may have experienced problems of hood frame lock-up when lowering their hoods. In December 2003 the issue led to MG Rover syndicating a Service Action Bulletin advising service managers to fit anti-jam straps from VIN no. RD800155 to RD608010.The dealers fitted elasticated straps which tensioned the frame to achieve a smooth folding operation. Quite why this improvement wasn’t incorporated into cars built after VIN RD608010 remains a mystery as the problem continued to persist until end of production.
