“So far, these are everything I'd expected. Less leakage than the vertical ones, and I'm hoping they don't freeze this winter. The bucket they are attached to will have a bird bath heater in it that has been very reliable in the past.”
“Large, yellow, kitty litter tubs are the perfect size for nesting boxes, and now I have one with 6 of these watering nipples. Directions are clear, easy, and accurate. Chicken curiosity led my flock to drink from it, immediately! The handle on the tub is easier on my hands than regular chicken waterers, and I can easily open the half-lid to add ice on hot days. Water stays clean -- a definite plus!”
“My younger pullets starting tapping at the nipple right away. An older set of pullets learned by watching them. I haven't seen all of my older hens use them though. The hens don't spend as much time in the coop. I still have a traditional waterer outside that I haven't replaced. It seems like the pullets drink more heartily out of the old-style version when they are outside. I will probably leave it outside in the heat of the summer. But I will never go back to an open water container inside the coop. Gone are the days of cleaning out dirt and shavings from the water every time I turn around! And I don't have to worry about the birds not having water when I'm not there to keep an eye on it. MyPetChicken got these out to me very promptly and at an unbeatable price.”
“At first I was a bit worried my 6 week old bantam silkies wouldn't know how to use the horizontal nipples but they did catch on rather quickly.... We live in Massachusetts and it can get hot here but usually doesn't last for more than a few days... but when I first moved my "baby girls" outside it was very hot and humid and I was very concerned that they weren't getting enough water but we stuck it out and within a few days they knew just what to do... I am a worried mommy and kept going into their coop and teaching them by "pecking " the center pin would give the water ... They and I LOVE the horizontal nipples ... no dripping water in their coop ... the horizontal nipple were the best thing I have purchased so far for my bantam silkies... Thank you”
“Easy to install in a 5 gal bucket. Doesn't leak as long as you install properly. Seconds to install. Does what it says. All my chickens from laying hens to bantams can get water. It's probably too tough for young chicks to operate. My "teenager" chicks can use it just fine. I suggest buying extras because I had a couple that didn't work right out of the package. Highly recommend. Would purchase again.”
“These would have been wonderful had I started my chicks on them from the beginning. Went in perfectly...no leaks...but my chickens would not touch them, or the kind with the yellow lever to peck. Great product though.”
“I have tried several other watering nipples and cups and this one is by far the best. The tapered design of the threads help make a tight seal, the design was genius. Hard plastic seems very durable. My system is gravity fed and has a lot of water weight, the nipples handle the pressure just fine. I'm so glad this phase of my coop is complete.”
