“I wanted to give these a solid amount of time before I gave an honest review. I have used the cup style and vertical style and figured I would give these a try. I can honestly so for me they have worked out by far the best. Way less water waste, there is still some but not nearly the same as other styles. They seem easier for the chickens to drink out of which was a major concern I had but all seems just fine. I did have one small problem and it was with sealing them. At first I used Teflon and it was very hit or miss if they would leak or not. I found it was better to get rid of the thread tape all together and just run a small bead of silicone on threads before screwing into pipe. All in all these worked out great, so well in fact that I now have 30 of them inside and outside of the coop.”
“After years of dirty water and daily cleaning, tipped over waterers, etc these watering nipples really did the trick! My girls learned how to use them in about 30 minutes and it's been smooth sailing since. If only I had known about these ages ago ^_^
P.S. I installed these on a 5 gallon HDPE sqaure jug.”
“I had previously used vertical nipples but they leaked. Also it was inconvenient to not be able to put the bucket down on its base. These were easy to install, don't leak, and work very well. To get my chickens to use them I removed their other waterer. Then I tapped these nipples a few times so some water dripped down. They immediately came over and started pecking and drinking--took 1 minute tops.”
“These are super easy to install in a 5 gallon bucket! Just needed a drill and and a drill bit! Only have to fill the bucket weekly for my 6 chickens. Also, the water is always clean and they can't spill it! Not sure if they really don't freeze, will find out in a few months!”
