Mystery Chick from Our Brown Egg Layer Assortment Female Reviews

4.7 Rating 22 Reviews
It’s probably hard to always get the correct sex of chick but nearly every order I have gotten at least one rooster. Which means I am short laying hens. I have to find a home for the rooster. Spent time and money raising a bird I can not keep. I have to order 7 chicks plus shipping costs to replace the 1-2 chicks that grew into a rooster. The policy of refunding the chick amount is great and emailing and sending pictures. But it doesn’t feel like enough. Maybe free shipping?

Ordered 15 brown egg layers and I wasn't disappointed. They arrived healthy and are growing fast. They are around 8weeks and are beautiful. I think I have a silver lace, golden lace, some buffs, reds and one single white one with some black spots that has already got a large comb and wattle so I hope it's not a roo but if it is will still love it.

I like interesting chickens. I want my flock to be interesting to say the least. I sell pullets and hens, everyone wants brown egg layers. Other than that they dont seem to care much. So I would order my "interesting" breeds and since they were expensive, I'd get the balance of my 15 + chicks as brown egg assortment. I absolutely live the "grab bag" feel. It's fun guessing who will be what breed. If I get a Speckled Sussex, I keep her because I love that breed. But if it's a regular chicken she gets sold, usually to someone who thinks she's beautiful, and that covers the cost of my "interesting" chickens. So everyone wins. Give this assortment a try. You won't be sorry. They're all the fun of raising regular chicks with the fun of getting a fun surprise. At a bargain price!

I got four brown egg layers to round out my flock, because there are too many wonderful birds out there to pick easily. I got four different breeds. One I am certain is a Dominique, and one I am certain is a gold laced Wyandotte. At three weeks old, I am not sure of the other two... I think one is a white rock, because it appears to be solid white, and I think the other is a buff Orpington or a buff Brahma.... color is right and she is absolutely HUGE compared to all my other chicks. All seem healthy and active! I am looking forward to fresh brown eggs next spring.

I needed 10 chicks to go with the Blue Copper Marans so I'd have 15 chicks total. At first I was ho-hum about the assortment, but the more I thought about it, the more I looked forward to them. I do love grab bags. They arrived today (fine and froggy ofcourse) and I haven't a clue who is what. It's going to be exciting finding out what I've received. I think I'm going to make an order that is completely brown egg assortment. Even the landlady is excited! And she didn't even want chickens at first, now thanks to My Pet Chicken she is already planning next years orders!
