“Love my Easter Egger! She is 4 weeks old now and so friendly and full of personality. She is always making eye contact with me and wanting to sit on my arm. I love her.”
Thank you, Kelli, for taking the time to review our little Easter Eggers! Easter Eggers are a great bird for backyard flocks as they are one of the most docile, gentle, curious, and outgoing breeds of chickens. They normally tolerate being held very well and often will seek out their keepers. Usually if a more docile and friendly breed begins to act a bit skittish, it could be the establishment of the "pecking order" is taking effect and perhaps a more dominant bird in the flock is establishing their position. This can happen especially with a mixed flock where a breed, with let's say a stronger disposition, may bully the others. Keep an eye on the flock to determine if there is any excessive pecking taking place and perhaps separate any offending bird for a day to shake it up a bit and perhaps create a bit more harmony for the more submissive Easter Egger. We hope this help and please always feel free to reach out to My Pet Chicken as we are here to help!

“These chicks will grown into large hens that lay beautiful large green eggs. We free range our chickens, and these are great survivors, although they often do not mingle with the rest of the flock but go their own way. My first Green queen laid 13 eggs over 7 days! She never did that again, but they are prolific layers and I always have green eggs in the dozens that I sell.”
