“I have chickens, lots of chickens lol. But I love chickens and needed more!! Also 2020 has been a rough year so I decided to treat myself to a suprise and it has been an absolute delight!! Nothing is more fun then fluffy baby chicks and opening a box of 15 suprises has been so much fun!
I could take pages to describe each ones uniqueness but let's try to keep it paraphrased!
- Ive got 2 Lavender Orpingtons which I recognized right away since I breed them and I'm thrilled! Wish I could attach pics because theyre perfect little Lavender fluffs and will diversify my little Orpington flock this summer! ‚ô°
- I have 6 brown/tawny chipmunk marked chicks with heavy eyeliner. They could be welsummers, brown leghorns, cream legbars, or speckled sussex. They're all banded with different colors and I expect they'll remain mysterious for a few months. Lol
- Ive 3 EEs/green queens/or olive eggers based on the combination of beards/muffs/combs. (My favorite layers for fun!)
- one Im 90% certain is a blue ameraucana not an EE, time will tell, but she looks 100% purebred and perfect down to leg color for the breed.
- 3 are either Dominiques or barred rocks possibly? They have the barring pattern head smear very lightly single combs and clean legs. They could be austrolop or jersey giants but the head dot though faint leads me to think barring gene.
In summary; I highly recommend this as a gift for a friend or yourself its a fun way to send yourself or someone a surprise and the fact that you can still choose females and the number of individual surprises makes it a great way to fit into your budget. You cannot make any requests when choosing this assortment (that would defeat the purpose!) So if there is ONE breed you simply must have I recommend you order 2 or 3 of that (probably more expensive choice and then fill the rest of your box with fun surprises. I will definitely be ordering this assortment again when I grab some wyandottes in the spring! ‚ô°”
“We ordered a rare breed assortment in 2019. Here‚Äôs what we ended up with:
2 Delaware
3 Andalusian (black, splash, blue)
1 buttercup (2 died within 48 hours after shipment)
1 Dominique (1 died within 48 hours after shipment)
2 buff brahma
The Andalusians and buttercup ended up being our favorites. All flighty birds, but they lay very well and seem to evade flying predators effectively. I would have never purchased Andalusians or Buttercups separately, but they have been great birds so I’m glad we ended up with them. The Delawares were obnoxiously noisy and we found out weren’t going in the coop at night for some reason. They didn’t last long once they started staying out and roosting on the fence. The Dominique and the remaining buff Brahma are aloof but hardy. These definitely aren’t the friendliest batch of birds we’ve had but we really enjoyed the surprise and would order again!
We also ordered 3 Easter eggers with this group and as always, they have been wonderful. Friendly, sweet birds, that lay well through winter too.”
“We ordered 5 and it took us quite a while to figure out the breed of our baby chicks. Some were easier to pin down than others, and not having any experience raising chickens limited our understanding of the breeds. They are 7 months old now, producing a variety of beautiful eggs and all have fun personalities. We ended up with a Cream Legbar, who has the sweetest disposition and lays beautiful blue eggs, a Silver Spangled Hamburg, a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, a Blue Marin, and an Egyptian Fayomi. Very happy with the support and customer service at My Pet chicken and highly recommend you!”
“You really get the BANG for your buck on these chickens! We know for a fact we got an Exchequer Leghorn which is $8 regularly, and we think we got a Lavender Orpington which is like $23 regularly. We only spent like $10 on the whole thing, and they are all really sweet so I highly recommend them.”
“I order 5 ‚ÄúChicken Math‚Äù and 5 ‚ÄúRare Breed‚Äù assortment chicks and couldn‚Äôt be happier. I received 9 different chicken breeds. They included 1 White Leghorn, 1 Golden Laced Wyandotte, 1 Sliver Laced Wyandotte, 1 Partridge Cochin, 1 Speckled Sussex, 1 Ancona, 2 Light Brahma and 2 others that I‚Äôm not sure about yet (possible Light Brown Leghorn & Buff Orpington). All the chicks arrive healthy and are thriving. It‚Äôs been lots of fun watching the chicks develop and trying to figure out their breed.”
“We ordered 15 chicks October 2019, they all arrived alive and seemingly well! We did lose two the first few days, most likely due to transport, but the other 13 are thriving! You can tell mypetchicken cares because they followed up to see how my chicks were when I emailed them telling them the two were sick. Of the 13, 5 were from the rare breed assortment, and none of them are the same breed! We got an olive egger, partridge rock, cream legbar, silver laced wyandotte, and a buff brahma! The silver laced was one of the sick ones but the other four are thriving, with such personalities! The cream legbar jumps out of her coop and sits on my shoulder every day! I absolutely love them and will order again!”
“My chicks arrived on time and none were sick or died. The assortment of chicks I received were indeed mixed and there is enough to start a flock of separate breeds. I ordered 50 and think this is a great company to order from.”
“We ordered 12 assorted chicks and they were delivered the last week of February. All are extremely friendly none look the same. Still a surprise for what they are. I can't figure it out. But they sure have been fun. Wish I could attach a picture. Thank you!”
