“Our Barred Rock Dottie is our sweet, sassy gal. She's adventurous, affectionate and has an attitude on occasion. She loves being picked up & carried around, lives for garden treats, seems to befriend hens lower on the pecking order, loves trying new things but whines terribly when she doesn't get her way. Her sweet, affectionate, quirky personality makes up for the occasional sassiness though, and she is the only hen in our mixed flock that waits up for me each and every night to come close up the coop and give her goodnight snuggles before going to roost with the others. I've never known a chicken to do this before, but I absolutely adore it. She is a consistent layer of large brown eggs, excellent with kids, cold hardy but struggles a bit in the heat. Overall a fantastic disposition and a breed I would highly recommend!”
We appreciate your sharing Dottie's personality and antics as she sounds like the typical Barred Plymouth Rock! Though they may have a little attitude if they are interrupted while checking out whatever may have captured their attention, they are also so very sweet and just wonderful additions to a backyard flock!
