“Bought a quite a few of these last year, a breed that I have had from top quality breeders in the past. Overall, the birds themselves were healthy enough. But never got the real birchen effects in their feathering, and they laid a decently chocolate egg, but not as dark as promised. I’ve been raising Marans for more than a decade, and understand how things go in the season. But I would say that even early in the season, these eggs were nice, but not amazing.”
Brice, thank you for the feedback on our Blue/black/Splash Birchen Marans. We understand that compared to show and breeder birds ours may not be the same. Where breeders choose their breeding stock for plumage and egg color, hatchery birds like ours are chosen for their temperament and health as well.
