Baby Chicks: Blue/Black/Splash Birchen Marans Female Reviews

4.8 Rating 24 Reviews
She’s adorable…we have not named her yet…she’s quite shy so far at 11 days old. Growing like a weed, healthy and well. I opted to vaccinate all the chicks, and gave them all Meyers grow gel, and use Kruses super chick medicated started feed.

I received a Blue Birchen Marans chick as part of my July batch of chicks and named her Mavi. Mavi is a beautiful chicken! She was one of the most outgoing and friendly chicks of her batch, always looking for extra attention! She started laying right about 19 weeks, extremely dark, copper colored eggs! They are significantly darker than the Black Copper Marans I got in the same batch! I would highly recommend this beautiful bird for your flock!

We are so glad you're enjoying Mavi in your flock! She sounds like such a fun, and productive chicken!

I have my first blue/black Birchen Marans chick and she is beautiful! Celine is 4 weeks old and she is a dark blue color. She is super calm, quiet and friendly. I hope she will be a lap chicken. I cannot wait to see what her feathers and eggs look like as an adult. I only wish I had ordered more.

I just recieved my 5 chicks yesterday. All are doing great. Only one was a little week but she is doing fine today. Very pleased with the health and packaging of the chicks. My only problem is with those leg bands. You say they have to come off and I have very gently tried. I know not to pull on there little legs but cannot roll the bands down over the leg like you have said. Really wish you would not use them. put a color dot of non toxic paint on there leg or wing. In the past you didn't do this. You would eventually find out what breed they are as they grow.

We have a assortment of Marans, Black Copper, Splash, White do lay beautiful eggs and very consistent layers all year around. Wonderful temperaments follow you around like little puppies. Marans are not fearful, calm can get eggs out without being bitten and do not pick on my other birds in my mixed flock. Not to big but not to small & just a pleasure to own. Can't wait to see what the 3 Birchen chicks, we just ordered, what their eggs will look like. Those dark reddish brown eggs really add a lot of color in a egg carton. Such fun to enjoy those colored eggs!
